5 Newmarket Royals Still Active in Pro Hockey For 2009-10

As the Cornwall Royals turned into the Sarnia Sting in the early 1990s she made a decision two years in Newmarket. During the season 1992-93 and 1993-1994, the team of Newmarket Royals were not disclosed. Alan Letang played in Newmarket for 1992-93 and 1993-94. He was a true franchise player, playing in Cornwall in 1991-92 and 1994-95 Sarnia. He played 14 NHL games between the Dallas Stars, Calgary Flames and New York Islanders split. Alan was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens. Alan is currently playing in the Austrian Elite League KHL Zagreb Medvescak.

Ilpo Kauhanen was one for Royal Cornwall two seasons, but only in two games as a Royal Newmarket before they sit down at the traded London Knights in 1992-93. Ilpo was a veteran between the pipes in the DEL in Germany. He is currently in Ingolstadt ERC, which is his fifth team in his career in the league.

Brendan Yarema played his rookie season with the OHL Royals for two seasons with the Sting. A career minor Leaguer, Brendan has a citizen of the world, plays for the teams in Canada, the United States, Britain, Switzerland, Germany, Sweden and Austria. Currently playing for Olimpija Ljubljana HK in the Austrian league, even if the team in Slovenia.

Mikhail Nemirovsky has played only six games in the OHL, all with the Royals in Newmarket. The Russian is currently playing with the German Oberliga Westfalen EHC Dortmund.

Ken Carroll played for the Royals in his rookie season, 1993-94, and spent the next two seasons between the pipes with Sting and the Niagara Falls Thunder. Despite playing the most games (43) Royals last season, unhappy with his GAA only 5.37 percent A.852 was terrible. Things have improved. Ken was a veteran of the Central Hockey League and has averaged fewer than 2.50 percent and in above.925. He is in his eighth season with the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs.
