Hockey History:
Throughout history people have played games involving a curved stick and a ball. There are pictures and descriptions of these events in ancient Egypt, Greece and the Middle Ages in Europe. There is even evidence of people playing hockey or stick and ball games like ice in Europe in the sixteenth century. And of course, immigrants from the Americas, they brought with them many games they played in their respective countries, such as hurling and hockey and other games.
ice hockey today owes much to these earlier games. Both field hockey, is the forerunner and ice hockey was basically a modification of the game to adapt to colder climates and others. The first ice hockey game is recorded as having taken place in Montreal, Canada, an indoor arena in March 1875. It was not until 1904 that the first professional league hockey was formed in Michigan, USA, the International Professional Hockey League. The league has lasted four years, doubling in 1907. For hockey, the first international match took place between Ireland and Wales, with a high score of 3-0, the winner Ireland.
In 1908, field hockey made its debut at the Olympics, was abandoned in 1924, but following the Olympics in 1928, he was back. Ice hockey has started the Winter Olympics in 1924 and has been played there since it was not until 1960 that the United States won its first gold medal in ice hockey.

Playing the game:
For a regular game of ice hockey is, of course, playing in a track with a total of six players from each team, five regular players and a goalkeeper. The goal is to place the disc, which is made of hard rubber in the teams goal and the team with the highest score wins. Players must use their sticks to move the disc and creates passes from one player to another. A team may be forced to play with only 5 players instead of six normal if a player commits a foul and then placed in a penalty box for short periods, usually about two minutes.
Field hockey is played on a rectangular field 100 meters by 60 meters, with eleven players on each team. Again, the idea is the same for small, hard ball, not a disc in the opposing team’s goal, for this you must use your stick and teamwork. There is an area defined as semi-circle around each goal circle called shooting or archery. The team with the ball called the attackers, while the team does not have the ball called the defenders. A game or a game for two referees to officiate in general are separated on the floor in the middle and everyone takes care of their own half. The game has two periods each being 35 minutes long, with half time break of five minutes.
